Hot water extraction is reckoned by many to be the most efficient means of cleaning a carpet, effectively removing dirt, bacteria and allergens. However, not all processes are the same, and the equipment used has a very big bearing on the quality of the finished job.

We have invested heavily in truck mounted cleaning systems, which are entirely self contained. Because the working parts of the system are housed in our truck, running off their own power supply and pumping high pressure hot water and cleaning solutions to the wand via a hose, their heating elements and pumps can be far more substantial than those found in portable units where the limiting factor is that the whole unit has to be light enough for the operator to move around.

Maintaining optimum pressure and temperature in the water means that you get the most thorough clean in the shortest possible time, carpets dry quicker and you are able to use your room again normally soon after cleaning.

However, even such powerful systems need experienced operators, as delivering too much water or water at too high a pressure can cause damage to the fabric of the carpet and encourage mould growth later on. For carpets that have a high wool content, the use of high pressure, high temperature water for cleaning is not always appropriate. Some woolen fibres will absorb the water and start to shrink, reducing the luxurious 'bounce' of your carpet. Other natural fibres like grasses and seaweeds yield carpets that are best cleaned in this way

To prevent this, in some cases, Carlton Cleaning will use a dry granule carpet cleaning technique.

This involves massaging a completely safe, eco-friendly sponge kibble into your carpet then vacuuming it out to safely remove dirt, bacteria and allergens without wetting your precious natural carpets.

Encapsulation cleaning is a two-step process. After a thorough pre-vacuuming the soil in your carpet is encapsulated by scrubbing in cleaning solution using a rotary machine. When the solution has dried, the soil can be thoroughly removed by vacuum cleaning which lifts the soil particles and dried cleaning solution granules.

Because encapsulation cleaning is a very low-moisture technique, it is suitable for many types of carpet and rug. When you need to use the space quickly after cleaning, this is an ideal process as the carpet dries almost immediately and your carpets are ready for use straight away.

Ideal for large areas, low moisture carpet cleaning is a very quick one-step process. Carpet soil is lifted in a rotating pad impregnated with cleaning solution.
